# Activate Fingerprint

## Let's start

Make sure that you set at least one fingerprint in your phone's settings to proceed.

From the LockMyPix settings select the option *Fingerprint / Face Unlock*. Place your finger on the fingerprint sensor and wait a moment for the confirmation.

## That's secure!

LockMyPix uses hardware based encryption for the fingerprint authentication (Class 3 / Strong Biometric). The associated data to your fingeprint cannot be read from outside without authentication.

{% hint style="info" %}
Changing or adding a fingerprint in your phone's settings requires LockMyPix to reauthenticate
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Important:** Always mind your password even if you login with fingerprint. Ensure to use the [password recovery](/password/password-recovery.md) to have a fallback
{% endhint %}

You prefer Facelogin or Iris-Scan for the login? [Activate Face/Iris Login](/general/activate-face-iris-login.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.en.lockmypix.com/general/activate-fingerprint.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
